Aneek Thapar on Mixing Electronic Music in Dolby Atmos
Aneek Thapar, a London-based mixing engineer, has been working with some of electronic music’s top names, creating Dolby Atmos productions for artists including Max Cooper and Rival Consoles. With a background in mixing and mastering, he has also written music for television and film and is the co-founder of the software instrument company Void & Vista.

Aneek Thapar’s Dolby Atmos Studio Setup
Speaking about his first experience with Dolby Atmos, Thapar describes walking home listening to his first Atmos mix and being amazed that every element, from ride cymbals to effects placement, sounded exactly where he intended. He immediately recognized the creative potential of Dolby Atmos, comparing it to the immersive difference between watching a Marvel movie on a phone versus in a cinema. Referencing BT (Brian Transeau), he highlights how stereo music is played “at you,” while surround sound and Atmos are played “with you.”

Why Aneek Thapar Chooses EVE Audio Monitors
Thapar works with a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos monitoring setup featuring SC204, SC205, and SC407 (now SC4070) monitors along with a TS112 subwoofer. He appreciates the ceiling placement and sound clarity of the SC204s, the power and comfort of the SC205s, and the rear-ported design that interacts well with the studio space. He also values the clarity of the ribbon tweeters, noting their precision in revealing vocal nuances, clicks, and pops—particularly during the development of Folds, Void & Vista’s second instrument.
